    Representatives of the National Forum “Transformation of Ukraine” took part in the Conference “The growth of investment attractiveness of Ukraine and the competitiveness of regions”, which took place at the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

    The conference held within the framework of the project “Polish Development Aid 2016” was aimed at support of Ukraine in the process of building of an independent and democratic country.

    Coordinator of the National Forum “Transformation of Ukraine” Mykhailo Khariy delivered a speech on the work of the National Forum: “The future is not a gift, it is an achievement”. I am sure that through cooperation between the Governments, Parliaments, the civil society of Poland and Ukraine we will create the kind of future we strive for”, – said Mykhailo Khariy.

    Ukraine is a priority partner of Poland and an important country in the region, covered by the Polish Development Aid. The main directions of support are human capital, proper management, governance, regional development, entrepreneurship and the private sector.

    “We have extensive experience in the preparation and implementation of development programs and projects. We make effective use of the European funds. We have prepared the foundations of a new country development strategy – the Responsible Development Plan. We want to share our experience with Ukrainian partners”, – said Jerzy Kwiecinski.

    Cooperation with Poland is very important for Ukraine, as Poland has gained favorable experience in building a successful country. We should use this experience of systematic building of a European type country in the process of transformation of Ukraine.

  • Third National Forum

    The Third National Forum “Transformation of Ukraine” (NFTU) took place at the International Convention Center “Ukrainian House”. The Forum was attended by representatives of the civil society, the authorities of Ukraine and international community.

    NFTU was established due to the initiative of public figures, businessmen, clergy and diplomats to discuss and coordinate actions aimed at transformation of the country.Among participants of the event were Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinskiy, Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk, mitered archpriest, head of Foreign Relations Department of the UGCC in Ukraine Oleksa Petriv, President of the Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith of Ukraine (Pentecostal) Bishop Michael Panochko, Chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine Sheikh Ahmed Tamim, rector of the Kiev Orthodox Theological Academy Archpriest Alexander Trofymlyuk, Dean of the Faculty of Theology KPBA Alexander Myronchuk, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Republic of Bulgaria in Ukraine Krasimir Minchev, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Lithuania in Ukraine Marius Yanukonis, Head of the Anti-Crisis Council of non-government organizations Anatoliy Kinakh, Honored Artist of Ukraine Evhen Nyschuk, Chairman of the parliamentary faction “Batkivshchyna” Yulia Tymoshenko, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Oleg Goncharuk, pioneer of high technologies and social activist Evhen Utkin, business representatives and representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, culture, NGOs and associations, the December First Initiative Group.

    The Forum started with a welcoming speech of Major Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk and Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinskiy.Coordinator of the NFTU Mykhailo Khariy delivered a speech on the results of the Forum activities up to the Third National Forum, in particular, on active involvement of international partners into cooperation with NFTU and organization of the Sectoral Forums. In order to improve operation of the National Forum, Learning Modules for the Sectors and Coordinators are being developed. Importance of coordination and consolidation of efforts of the civil society, all branches of power in Ukraine and international partners to develop and implement a common program for transformation of the country was stressed. Moreover, National and International Coordinators of the Sectoral Forums were presented:

    1. Sector “Business Climate” – Evhen Utkin (pioneer of high technologies, social activist), National Coordinator;
    2. Sector “Decentralization and Regional Development” – Jacek Kluczkowski (the Institute for Eastern Studies, former Polish Ambassador to Ukraine), International Coordinator;
    3. Sector “Culture” – Bohdan Strytunskiy (People’s artist of Ukraine, artistic director of the Kiev National Academic Theatre of Operetta), National Coordinator;
    4. Sector “Education and Science” – Ihor Tsependa (Rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University), National Coordinator; Jan Malicki (Head of the Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw, honorable doctor of Precarpathian National Vasyl Stefanyk University), International Coordinator;
    5. Sector “Financial” – Oleksandr Savchenko (President of the International Institute of Business), National Coordinator;
    6. Sector “Agriculture” – Leonid Kozachenko (President of the All-Ukrainian public organization “Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation”, Head of Council of Entrepreneurs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine), National Coordinator;
    7. Sector “Cooperation with the Ukrainians Abroad” – Mykhaylo Ratushniy (Head of the Ukrainian World Coordinating Council), National Coordinator.

    The topic “Socio-economic situation in Ukraine and tools to improve it” was addressed at the Forum. Chairman of the Anti-Crisis Public Council Anatoliy Kinakh stressed consolidation of all business associations of Ukraine in order to resolve the current crisis. “We have studied the experience of Poland and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe in terms of the transformation process. The Poles began with almost similar economic base, however, now have a 5-6 times higher GDP (500 billion dollars in comparison to 86 billion in Ukraine), alongside this, Poland is the EU Member State and one of the most developed countries of the region. There are economic “recipes” equally successful for any economy. They must be adjusted to the realities of Ukraine, betting on the development of its own potential – industrial, innovative, active civil society, its cohesion,” – said Anatoliy Kinakh.

    Former Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine, International Coordinator of the “Decentralization and Regional Development” Sector Jacek Kluczkowski presented Recommendations for the President of Ukraine, leaders of political parties, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Government of Ukraine, the civil society of Ukraine and international partners, based on the best practices of transformation in countries of Central and Eastern Europe (particularly Poland), developed by the Working Group of the NFTU.

    Cooperation of the NFTU, all branches of the government, civil society and international partners should result in the development and implementation of the National Strategy of Transformation of Ukraine.

    The Forum participants actively discussed ways of expanding cooperation of the National Forum with the authorities, the business community and the civil society to accelerate the transformation processes and reforms. In particular, suggestions and comments expressed:

  • 9th Europe – Ukraine Forum Reform and Modernization Strategy  – A Breakthrough in the Making?

    Representatives of the National Forum “Transformation of Ukraine” took part in the 9th Forum “Reform and Modernization Strategy  – A Breakthrough in the Making?” held in in Lodz, Poland. The Forum was organized by the Institute for European Studies.

    The 9th Europe – Ukraine Forum – is one of the biggest conferences in Central and Eastern Europe, aimed at discussing political, economic and social environment of the countries of Europe, Asia and the USA.

    The debates of the Forum concentrated on the key issues of modernization and development of the economic potential of Ukraine, organization of local government, diverse use of own natural resources opportunities in the region and cooperation with partners from Poland and other European countries. The mainstream topic was depicted as economic and political cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in solving problems of modernization and development of Ukraine, regional cooperation and foreign policy.

    Within the Forum debates, meetings, reports, plenary sessions, discussions, regional and sectoral presentations were held.

    Europe-Ukraine Forum became the venue for nearly 500 participants from Ukraine, EU, Russia, neighboring states and the USA, including government members, politicians, businessmen, regional officials, representatives of international organizations and think-tanks, representatives of educational institutions and nongovernmental organizations of the EU countries, Ukraine and other countries.

    National Forum “Transformation of Ukraine” was presented at its own platform, moderated by Štefan Füle -Check politician, diplomat, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy (2010-2014), chaired by Barroso. The platform speakers: Jan Tombinski, Anatoliy Kinakh, Mykhaylo Khariy. The National Forum delegation comprised more than 40 representatives.

    Ukraine was represented at the Forum by Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oksana Syroyid, Igor Zhdanov – Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, PDs Yegor Sobolev, Yuriy Bublyk, Mykhaylo Kniazhytsky, Anatoliy Matvienko, a wide range of experts and businessmen.

    At the same time Poland was represented by Vice Premier, Minister of Culture and National Heritage Petro Glinsky, Foreign Minister Witold Vaschykovskyy, the Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński, Deputy Minister of Development, member of the Cabinet of Ministers of Poland Jerzy Kwiecinski.

  • First National Forum

    The National Forum of “Transformation of Ukraine” took place in Kyiv. The initiators, organizers and active participants were representatives of civil society, NGOs, clergy, education, culture, science, business, the international community. The organization of this Forum is caused the current challenges that facing Ukraine, the need to maintenance of Ukrainian statehood, to undertake effective reforms and transformations, to ensure sustainable development of the country and the successful process of European integration. Forum is a support system of reforms in Ukraine. Such approach is based on the best European practices.

    The main tasks of the Forum:

    • communication platform;
    • an explanation of the reasons for the changes and reforms to the society;
    • monitoring the implementation of legal and administrative decisions of the authorities and its impact on daily life of society;
    • monitoring and reporting on threats for the reforms.

    Forum launches the permanent platform of communication and cooperation between representatives of Ukrainian society, social activists, government (the President, Parliament and Government of Ukraine) and the international community. Sectoral Forums will be held with the purpose to discuss reform plans in all areas of economic and social life in Ukraine, and to establish systemic communication between civil society, government, parliament and international community. The Sectoral Forums will take place at the national and regional levels and discuss main strategic reforms, without excluding other possible issues of general public interest. Key priority sectors are: business climate; agriculture; energy sector; decentralization and regional development; development of civil society; education and science; social sector; culture.
